Kestrel & Fulmers in Pembrokeshire
I have had a couple of great days down in Pembrokeshire.I went with the intention of photographing Fulmers,my favourite sea bird, and nearest bird the we have to Albertross. They are in fact part of the same family (I think).
I love photographing them and trying to get some nice flight shots is always great fun and quite a challenge.
Here are a few that I was very pleased with.
I also like to capture some nice/different portrait shots and some behaviour images.
There was no end of squabbling going on!!!
And I was really pleased with this shot (something a bit different).
Whilst I was photographing these fellows I noticed a Kestrel hunting up and down the cliffs. So after studying it's movements for a few hours I noticed it wasn't particularly bothered by people walking along the coastal path so I staked out a few of it's favourite places.
I was very pleased with the results.
I really love these next couple of shots. The evening light and Sea Thrift really make these images.
I also had the amazing experience of this Kestrel hunting also directly over head.
Which meant I could get this image.
As I was watching it hunting I was fascinated by the way the Kestrels head reminded perfectly still whilst it was hovering.
So tried to capture an image that conveyed this.
